The Studio Microphone Classic

The Neumann U87 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone is one of the most commonly used microphones in our studio here at Trod Nossel. It has been used on a wide variety of instruments such as acoustic guitar, violin, cello and all other types of stringed instruments. It has the ability to accurately capture the room ambiance of a performance. It’s also been used on guitar amps, drums and percussion, choir and most commonly, lead and background vocals and dialogue.

The U87 has a relatively flat frequency response, which allows for an accurate representation of a vocal or instrument being recorded without any additional, unwanted frequency boosts or cuts. If there is one mic that is used to capture virtually any sound accurately, it’s the Neumann U87, and we’ve got it here, at Trod Nossel Studios.

See you in the studio...

Pulse, Bram Rigg Set, The Shags, The Wildweeds, Syncron, Trod Nossel, etc...

The best thing about the web is inadvertently coming across great info about our own company, personal accounts and intimate anecdotes. Check out this interesting blog told by none other than Paul Rosano, a former member of Pulse. It is great to hear these versions told by each musician with their own personal spin and experiences factored in.

Check out his blog here.

Paul Rosano is also currently one of our songwriters from back in the day. He'll be one of many of our writers to get some positive news within the next year... more on that when the time comes.

If anyone out there knows any of our obscure writers, please pass along this info, and have them go to our site to send us updated contact information, as well as a valid email address.

Enjoy!

Welcome to Trod Nossel Productions and Recording Studios' Blog!

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to the Trod Nossel Productions and Recording Studios' Official Blog.

As most of you know, we are the premier audio production and recording facility not only in Connecticut, but have been coined by the media as "one of the longest running recording studios of its kind in the world." We've been here since 1962, first as a microphone manufacturing company, then became Syncron Sound Studios. Since 1966, we have been Trod Nossel Productions and Recording Studios; same name, same business, same location. Everyone who is anyone has graced these walls over the years. Take a look at our partial client list. Of course we could not list everyone who has recorded here.

We are situated on nearly 3 acres of land, with three buildings on the compound, one being the main studio (6,500 sq. feet), at the end of a private, dead end street. Parking and load in is level (no stairs) and the property is fenced on all sides. A look at some photos of the facility and grounds are here.

Since we have been recording as far back as the inception of the multitrack recording, we have vast knowledge in all areas of audio production and sound recording. We have trained many other local studio owners and engineers through our artist management, work programs, and engineering courses which were developed as early as 1970. We are an all-encompassing entertainment company including several publishing companies with a catalog of approximately 800 titles, placing our songs in TV, with other artists and Film such as HBO and Disney, Monday Night Football to television sitcom's. We also have over 1,000 recorded master tapes including the 23 famed Trod Nossel Concert Series featuring Fleetwood Mac, Steppenwolf and Chick Corea.

Sign up for our regular mailing list to receive updates on studio news, client projects and other information items. Or, contact us

'Til then, see you in the studio...
